An unsettled Iraq is a huge problem to handle for American imperialism; Iran under attack will be an even bigger problem for it.
The USA has been working hard at alienating the Arab and Muslim world - for decades, and with increased fervour in the past years.
US foreign policy has absolutely nothing constructive to offer to these countries nor, indeed, to the United States itself. America acts like a global mugger and hopes to delude itself and those at the receiving end of their international meddling with the cheapest and most incoherent media claptrap.
"Heute Deutschland und morgen die ganze Welt" ("First we take Germany, and tomorrow the whole world") - the slogan encapsulating the Nazis' imbecile confidence to conquer and subdue any country and, indeed, the entire globe, appears more and more analogous to the basic stance and thrust of contemporary American foreign policy.
The Bush Administration is so utterly incompetent that, like the Nazis, it does not even understand what it takes to accomplish robbery successfully.
Or a scheme of domination.
In addition, the Administration is "spoilt" by the privilege of dealing with the most subservient population of our day - the electorate, those great idiots of Western democracy.
Outside of the West, people fight when they get hurt.
Hard to understand for Western politicians, who can rely on the apathy of the democratically intoxicated - one of those species in human history, who use their relative wealth as the delusive grounding for a perspective that despises wealth (and the indispensable network of its underlying institutions of freedom) and dearly hatches ignorance of what brings about wealth, and what destroys it.
My prediction: Among the region's countries considered unproblematic (in terms of blowback) so far by the Americans (and for such a long time, unbelievably), Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will soon cause unheard of "discomfort" to the declining American empire, that great destabiliser:
